Apprenticeships (age 16-25) level 2 and 3:

With this program you would undertake a technical certificate, key skills and Health and Social Care NVQ (2 or 3 depending on your job role).  This program is funded by the Learning and Skills Council and is therefore free of charge to learners.





Health and Social Care NVQ's 2 and 3:

These qualifications are for people who are working Social Care settings (Care Staff).  NVQ's are achieved by completing units of competence that reflect your job role and everyday work i.e. Health and Safety, Communication, Protection of Others and your own development.

Assessment for these awards take place in your work place and in partnership with your learning provider and your employer.  You can progress your learning from these awards to level 4 and degree programs.

Key Skills:

Key skills are for everyone, from learners in the workplace to chief executives in large companies. They are the skills most commonly needed for success in education, training, work and life in general.

The six key skills qualifications are:

  • Application of Number
  • Communication
  • Improving own Learning and Performance
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Problem Solving
  • Working With Others

In developing key skills, people improve the quality of their learning as well as their performance in the world of work.

Key skills can be assessed and achieved as stand-alone qualifications, although delivery may more commonly form part of a broader learning programme involving achievement of other qualifications.
